Transfer Options

Because there are several variations to the options available for transfers to/from the Tutoko, the costs also vary and need to be calculated for your particular charter (unless you are joining a group).

Lake Transfers

To get to Deep Cove in Doubtful Sound where the Tutoko is based, you can either fly (more about that later) or take a ferry across Lake Manapouri then coach over the Wilmot Pass. The journey across the lake and over the pass is well worth considering as you get an excellent commentary by our service providers' about the area as you travel. There is also an option of visiting the Manapouri Power Station if we are advised early enough.

A lake transfer generally means being in the area, either Te Anau or Manapouri, by the previous evening. Manapouri is only 15 minutes drive from Te Anau; both have a variety of accommodation standards for you to choose from.

In the summer we generally depart around 0800 from Pearl Harbour (Manapouri) and travel over the lake and pass arriving at the Tutoko by mid-day. Here we load all of the gear and stores then set sail for the open sea and journey down the coast.

The cost of a lake transfer is $65/Adult each way.

Flights

Flying to/from the Tutoko is an experience in itself and well worth the extra cost. From the air you will marvel at the scenery with its sheer mountain ranges rising to several thousand feet above sea level then dropping dramatically down to where you meet the Tutoko. This is an experience not to be missed.

However, we try to ensure two groups are joined back to back with each group sharing costs this would have a net effect of each group paying for one machine or $2100 being each group's flight costs. From there you would share this evenly amongst those travelling.
